What ages are best for baby milestone portraits?

At Delta Blossoms Photography, I know that every age and stage is worth capturing, but some stages lend better to the images that you are dreaming of. That's why I offer a Milestones Package which includes three sessions at three different age/stages: newborn, sitter, and one year old.

Newborn or First 48 Session

This age is kind of a given for beautiful milestone portraits. The newborn stage goes so quickly, and they are never again that tiny, that sleepy, that snuggly, etc. That's also the stage that can be hardest to remember because - sleep deprivation. Mama is tired y'all. Whether you choose an in-home newborn session or a first 48 session at a hospital or birthing center, I highly recommend capturing those first days with your sweet newborn in a photography session.

Sitter Session

The next age/stage I recommend for great milestone photos is when your baby is fully sitting (not wobbly), but not crawling yet. Babies at this stage are starting to feel more like their own person. The age for this milestone session going to vary a bit for each child, as they don't all develop on the exact same calendar or schedule. But when they're sitting up and seeing the world from a whole new point of view and excited to participate is a fun stage to book a milestone session!

1 Year Old | First Birthday Session

The first birthday is a classic time to schedule a portrait session. Whether your are choosing to do a fun cake smash session, a simple birthday themed session, or just a traditional childhood session capturing the memories of your baby at 1 year old - I consider it a milestone portrait must.
